I know, everyone has been waiting for me to write something today.
Well obviously I am not sad to see Bush go, I personally believe that he was an incredibly dangerous leader.
Does this mean good times are ahead?
Possibly, but I am not holding my breath. The United States does not have a good history of internationalism, and certainly does not take an objective view on international events.
I am hoping that the US will seek dialog ahead of conflict, and will encourage Israel to do the same.
As long as the US turns a blind eye to the disproportianate actions of Israel then there will be no peace in the middle east.
Now the right wingers out there will probably say I support terrorism... NO! I condemn violence by all parties, however when the death toll is 100:1 Palistinian vs Israeli then the response was more than disproportionate. When the majority is Israeli Deaths were mostly soldiers, and the vast majority of Palestinian deaths were unarmed civilians, then this is beyond disproportionate, it is a blatant war crime.
When this level of injustice is leveled on a people, it does not "pacify" them it enrages them and breed more violence.... it will not create a peaceful outcome for anyone.
Anyway, the great campaign has been for "HOPE", let us all hope that there will be real change in Washington that can truely help deliver a more peaceful world.
