1st World vs 3rd World

Hurricane Katrina had almost total news coverage around the world, the news channels pretty much only covering it.

The earthquake in Pakistan and India being the number one story in the UK is barely getting anywhere near the coverage as Hurricane Katrina, despite the fact that the death toll is alot higher. I find this particularly odd considering that Britain has alot more people who were born in India and Pakistan than people born in America.

That is true.

I never really thought about that...real good point made though. Out here..people dont seem to care a lot about earthquake....but they continue to rant about the hurricane..which is beggining to get pretty annoying.

Understandable though - the hurricane is a 'home' happening and therefore much more personal to you.

It's because the greatest power on earth let one of their great cities die. Shameful actually. Seeing Katrina, and even if you are for or against Iraq, how could anyone possibly believe the US would be competent enough to win?
