Why block a way forward?

Yesterday independent insepctors confirmed the destruction of all IRA weapons. The process was rather odd and isn't really verifiable and wether or not you believe if it happened or not depends on your faith in the people who inspected the process. The unionists (extremis protestants) have said that they have no faith in the process and so it changes nothing.

Although I do have some doubts I personally feel that people should imbrace this with cautious optimism, even if all the weapons have not been destroyed, I think it is fairly safe to say that the vast majority have been, and that what would be left would be significantly less than that of the protestant paramilitaries'.

I personally think the problem is that people like Ian Paisly do not want to have a solution in Northern Ireland, he is a bitter old man who cannot see pass his prejudice, and although he is not involved with the protestant paramilitraries himseelf, he dosen't seam to do much to discourage them, and encourages them by being so critical or skeptical of anything the republicans do, and he encourages them by his silence towards there violence.

Recently the Unionists have been far more violent than the IRA, I think it's time for people like Paisly to "put up or shut up" when it comes to the peace process.
