Love at a cost?

The Church says "Jesus loves you" and then demands 10% of your income.

Where I come from this is called prostitution*.

On the other hand, if they demanded 50% of you income, it would be called marriage.

*Come to think of it, it's probably actually pimping

Hmmm - didn't Jesus have something to say about the 'money changers'?

Actually the only church I know which DEMANDS 10% of your income is the Church of Scientology - that bunch of whackos who follow the teachings of a 3rd rate Sci Fi author. Tom Cruise is a scientologist... says it all really

You know, this is one of those times that I've just gotta say "let it go" it was supposed to bring a smile, not cause some great debate.

Don't know where you have got your ideas about marriage but in my case the wife gets about 99.9% recurring!

I'm not sure what is funny... money is everything in this world, so we're all prostitutes, pimps, slaves, etc. At least people give money to churches in order to support their own worship (churches, school) and charitable activities (such as health clinics). Money is also used to evangelize.

As Lex pointed out, these days there are few sects that "demand" tithing but the Scientologists and many Islamic governments do require it.

Do you have any idea what humour and irony is?

Doctors don't say they love you and demand 90% of your income
