Getting the word wrong

Did you know that Peanuts aren't really nuts?

They are actually Peas. (Info from Wickepedia)

So do people with nut allergies actually have nut alleries or pea allergies?

Weird aren't they. As I understand it, the flower appears above ground as normal but once fertilised the stalks burrow back u8nderground for the nuts to form!

Notable peanut farmer - ex US President Jimmy Carter

(Info from Lexipaedia - probably inaccurate)

No it is right, I had come across that before. I just used the wickepedia to confirm what I knew.

What nuts do you know come in 2s and 3s, they are peas in a pod... just imagine they are green not brown... they are just like peas.

Oxford Concise Dictionary

Pea Noun

1) the oval seed of a south American Plant, often roasted and salted and eaten as a snack ...

2) the plant of the pea family that bears theses seeds, which develop into pods that ripen underground.......

People who are allergic to peanuts are actually allergic to a substance called "Ara h2."

A highly sensitive person may indeed be made sick by other legumes, such as peas. They can also be made sick by tree nuts.

from a peanut Canadian allergy site:

If one is allergic to a legume, the risk of reaction to at least one other legume is 5%. If allergic to a tree nut, the risk of reaction to at least one other tree nut is 37%

The biggest risk for reaction to tree nuts is that the machinery used to process them may have at one time been used for peanuts.

Thank you so much!

I burned my leg quite badly on the weekend and went to the hospital, while I was there I was discussing this with the nurse attending me, and she couldn't work it out and started to research it while I was there, but she couldn't find the answer.
